Emmy Klomp and Laura van der Woerdt are the founders of La Louème, a vintage tableware shop. They are business and life partners for almost seven years and counting. We met Emmy and Laura at a nature campsite just outside Amsterdam in their renovated van named Bobbie de Bus which plays a big part in this campaign shoot but also in their lives.
Haha! Absolutely. Our brand is a passion project that got a bit out of hand. In a good way. We both love collecting vintage tableware, which we’ve bought alongside roads in France at Vide Maison locations. Vide Maison are attic sales at old French houses. This passion turned into a business: La Louème. It’s an online platform where you can buy or rent our treasures. In November we will open a physical store in Amsterdam that will serve as a shop, and a rental and event location.

Yes, Bobbie! Another passion project that got out of hand. Because of our trips to France, we needed a vehicle with more space. We both have a “we can do this” mentality so we bought a van, which we are renovating ourselves and we named it Bobbie de Bus. From mood boards and fixing lights and electricity, we got this!
La Louème and our van Bobbie are the perfect examples of who we are. We do not overthink much, and we do not care a lot about the opinions of others. We make choices from our gut feeling and what we like and love. Our motto in life is doing what we love. If we want something to happen, we don’t wait. We are just going to do it. We are building our brand, van and life this way.
I really had to make some choices to become who I am now. I am from a small town in Brabant and I stood out because of my hair and style. I have been passionate about hair ever since I can remember. It was short and in all colours of the rainbow. I ran off to Amsterdam, where I started out as a make up artist and hair stylist for campaigns and fashion shoots, which I still do. I lost the colour in the hair, but colour is very much in my life within La Louème and our van. I found peace and a home in Amsterdam. My advice to everybody who doesn’t feel like they can be who they are where they live is - try your luck somewhere else. Life is too short.
We have been together for seven years now. It sounds cliché, but most of the time we are on the same page. In our personal relationship as well as our work relationship.
