Isa-Yasmijn is a model, personal trainer and an actress, working on a new platform where all her passion projects come together: sports, acting and modelling. We caught up with her at Vondelgym, a place she feels most at home.
I was raised without a lot of parental guidance. On one hand that was very lonely, on the other hand, also very special. From a very early age I had to rely on my own personality and create my own chances in life. For me, being who I am is 100% the reason people and work cross my path.

I was raised without a lot of parental guidance. On one hand that was very lonely, on the other hand, also very special. From a very early age I had to rely on my own personality and create my own chances in life. For me, being who I am is 100% the reason people and work cross my path.
I made a living out of my passion. I spent a lot of time at my gym: Vondelgym. I feel very at home there. Vondelgym is a place that is very focused on inclusivity. It does not matter what you look like, young, old, with a handicap, people of color, queer or straight. Everybody is welcome and we are proud of this, for example we have ‘"No Gender In The Gym" days. I am proud that I work at a place where my clients can be who they are as well.
I feel I always had to fight for the fact that I cannot be placed in a certain box. I am a model and an actress, and I have a career in the gym. I have muscles, tattoos, and piercings. The days I was a standard model are long gone. I don’t want to behave or look a certain way just to get work. The funny thing is that when I am as I am, work and exciting things come my way, that are a 1 on 1 match.
I guess all it takes, is to truly do what you love. Make sure to make space and time for that and also get the emotional and financial assets you need to do what you love. And don’t forget to always respect yourself! Always.
Funny, because actually I am everything except black. The one black or white piece of clothing I own is a white tank top. What I really like about this campaign is that it clearly gives a picture of who I am. It was shot in the Vondelgym, you see my tattoos and muscles. There was no extra colour needed. This is me at my purest.
